Shhhhh do you want to know a secret?
What are all the best schools and settings already doing?
Working on their process of transition.
Yes that's right, it's not even Spring (officially) yet and my Hygge settings and schools are already working on their process of transition. Thinking about how to support the children moving on from them and the children who will be joining in September.
They've been working on it now for a few months: working with their children, talking to parents and organising their time.
Having a successful transition process is something I am so passionate about getting right in the Early Years. Especially now as a Mummy as I know how hard it can be to have an unsettled child and the impact it has on their mental health and wellbeing.
We don't want to leave it as a one off day at the end of the Summer term where children meet their new teachers for the day.
If we want happy, calm settings full of connection and children that thrive in their learning we must consider transition.
Now, you've already missed quite a bit of valuable time in getting this process planned and rolled out but it's not too late to start today.
I'm sharing below a link to an online course I made a few years ago that is still such a wonderful resource to show you the exact steps to take for successful, happy and settled children.
